about

The album title, "Astronomical," is actually a song I wrote and intended to record for this collection, but I realized that some songs are just, well, unrecordable. I just like to play it live!

These songs were recorded throughout 2010, starting back in February. It feels good to finish them. I hope people enjoy, even if it's only one song or one moment!

Track Name: Many Maps (ft. Libby Christensen)
you were sitting on a lonely rock,
and i was looking at my map;
we were lost.

the breeze was warm;
my hands were cold.
you felt so young;
i felt so old that night.

a train passed by,
and i just smiled,
because i don't mind the time it takes to find me.

i thought we should drive toward the coast,
so maybe we could find a town;
we were lost.

the clouds were high;
the sun was low.
the ground was dry;
the air was soaked that night.

a train passed by,
and i just smiled,
because i don't mind the time it takes to find me.

you know just where to go,
you know,
you know.

a train passed by,
and i just smiled,
because i don't mind the time it takes to find me.
Track Name: Audrey
close your eyes,
let it sink in through the bed,
through the ground.

coffee cakes and card games
we used to play.

you, so soon.

look around,
it's as beautiful as it sounds.

i just wanted a chance to tell you
that i love you, and i'm sorry.

you, so soon.

and you'll go on,
just look at that horizon.
Track Name: Thank You For The Moon
you've given me,
more than i've received.
palms in the sand,
of a land that you conceived.

thank you for the moon,
mattressing the sky.
i'm sorry for the kiss,
that took away your life.

a simple silhouette would suffice.

you fold my heart,
by multiples of two.
but i rip it apart,
and then ask you for some glue.

a simple silhouette would suffice.
a simple silhouette would suffice.

i'm trying hard,
to see you there,
from the start,
but i'm taking for granted,
the life that you handed,
i see what they're doing,
and i know what i'm ruining,
and there's blood in your waves,
and oil in your waves,
and air in your arms,
and a smile on your face.
Track Name: Studying Abroad
you'll watch the sun in the sky,
and you'll find the meaning of your life;
i'll sit inside of the darkest rooms,
and i'll write about art that has no consequence.

veiled in clouds,
i'll be so lost without you.

and we'll both be in a place we don't know.

veiled in clouds,
i'll be so lost without you.
Track Name: Schoolboy
schoolboy is playing,
he runs away and hides,
deep in the wheat fields,
avoiding other eyes.

the school bell starts ringing,
and the others go back in,
and the sun hits the wheat fields,
and that's where we begin.

the anchor is way too tight my friend.
the anchor is way too tight my friend.
i'm losing every sense i've ever had.

father is reading the news in the gazette.
he ponders the meaning of everything it says.
grandfather is shaving, he's whistling an old tune,
and you look around and realize, the only one is you.

the anchor is way too tight my friend.
the anchor is way too tight my friend.
i'm losing every sense i've ever had.
i'm losing every sense i've ever had.
Track Name: Politics and Pilgrims
all your sons and daughters
have been raised improperly.
politics and pilgrims
make you seem so obsolete.

take me,
shake me,
make me who you want me to be.

misanthropic carnivores
attack me every night.
underneath the stars
that spill from glasses in the sky.

take me,
shake me,
make me who you want me to be.

i'm going to tape leaves to the trees.
i'm going to take light from all the seasons.

take me,
shake me,
make me who you want me to be.
