about

These songs are pretty full, busy songs. They're about memories of mid-to-late-autumn in Michigan. Some as a young boy, some I feel now. I haven't been writing much lately, but something inspired me to write these songs and share them. I hope you enjoy their sounds.

Track Name: Gloaming
have you seen it?
roaring down the riverside,
when the storm came,
we were in the woods,
we ran to our house, we ran.

we were leaping,
over saturated soil,
in the gloaming,
his arms,
north, in michigan
north, in michigan.

can you breathe it?
falling in the autumn air,
condensation,
the leaves gave way,
and we looked up,
and water poured onto our heads,
and now we are growing up.
we are growing up.

we're growing up, we're giving in to the architecture.
Track Name: Home
think of better days,
let them guide you,
let them guide you 'til you're home.

climb the apple tree; december won't wait for us.

take the thundercloud,
make a river,
make a river for your boat.

all our favorite ghosts are washed up in watermills.

silence in the evening,
in the meadow,
in the north side of the state.

taverns on the shoreline,
i stare at them everyday.

we’re always on our own
we never feel at home.
Track Name: Michigan
i’ve been wondering,
why seasons fade in michigan,
why leaves, once green, turn cinnamon,

days move softly,
yet years go by like the autumn wind,
and with time they dry on clothespins,
and fold until there’s nothing left to see.

out my window,
i’m reaching for the starlit night,
i’ve been sitting in synthetic light,

and every morning,
the old man wakes for breakfasttime,
he and i are searching, trying to find the firelight hidden in this house.

have you heard?
he is coming home.

i’ve been wondering,
why seasons fade in michigan,
why leaves, once green, turn cinnamon,
they finally fall and glisten in the ground.
